TOTW Predictions - Week 29
- Mar 30, 2015
- 5 min read
As you may have picked up from previous international weeks I am far from a fan of them. They are particularly hard to select due to the fact there is so many games that count sometimes but not on other occasions. Friendlies and Tuesday qualifiers being the prime example. With that being said this is my attempt for this week.

Last weeks score 11/18
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Goalkeeper
Sebastián Viera - GK - 73 OVR
I will be honest with you I really struggled with the keepers this week. After a lot of searching I managed to find one which was not Bronze and that is Viera who saved a penalty alongside three other saves in order to keeper a clean sheet on Thursday during his sides 2-0 win.
Defenders
Mergim Mavraj - CB - 71 OVR
Albania looked destined to lose 1-0 to Armenia however once Armenia's RB received a red card the game changed and Albania managed to come out as 2-1 victors thanks to two late goals. Mavraj scored the first of those two goals and with the lack of options this week I can see it being enough.
Fabian Schär - CB - 75 OVR

The first of two Swiss players I have selected this week is Schar after he scored one of Switzerland's three goals and kept a clean sheet in their 3-0 win against Estonia.
Peter Pekarík - RB - 75 OVR
Pekarik scored the third and final goal in Slovakia's routine 3-0 home win against Luxembourg. Pekarik claimed the MOTM award and was heavily praised for his performance by the Slovakian press. This result means that Slovakia stay at the top of their group with 5 wins out of 5. Spain believe it or not are the team in second. A very impressive start for Slovakia.
Midfielders
Danny Welbeck - LW - 78 OVR
Welbeck continues to impress on the international scene this week with a goal and assist in England's 4-0 win against Lithuania. A lot of predictors have opted for Sterling this week but Welbz was the MOTM and performed a lot better than Sterling imo. England will no doubt have someone included as they keep their 100% record this qualifying campaign.
Fábio Coentrão - CM - 79 OVR
buy safe reliable fifa coins
Coentrao played in an unusual CM position this week compared to his usual LB slot however he managed to put in a MOTM performance after scoring the opener before assisting the second as Portugal managed a 2-1 win against out of form Serbia.
Xherdan Shaqiri - CAM - 80 OVR
Shaqiri assisted all three of Switzerland's goal as they managed a 3-0 win against Estonia in a must win game for them after previous slip ups. If only one player makes it from Switzerland I believe that will be Shaqiri.
Senad Lulić - LM - 78 OVR
The first of two Bosnian IF's this week makes Lulic IF, the second being rather easy to guess. Lulic claimed all three assists in the game which saw Bosnia win comfortably away at Andorra.
Marouane Fellaini - CAM - 79 OVR
Fellaini has impressed for United in recent weeks and he has appeared to continue that good form over to Belgium as he scored two of Belgium's five goals in their comfortable 5-0 win over Cyprus. I think Fellaini will get the nod over the likes of Hazard after it was Fellaini who claimed all the headlines.
Forwards
Gareth Bale- ST - 87 OVR
Wales proved many doubters wrong this weekend with an impressive 3-0 away win against Israel. Bale was involved in all three goals, scoring twice and assisting the other. He played up top in a 3-5-2 formation which will make him very desirable and expensive for that matter.
Edin Džeko - ST - 83 OVR
What a surprise an IF Dzeko from an international week, basically a regular now. Dzeko scored all three of Bosnia's goals in their 3-0 away win against the massive powerhouse which is Andorra.
Substitutes
Pietro Terracciano - GK - 64 OVR
Terracciano was outstanding for Catania during their 1-0 home win against high flying Avellino. In total he made an impressive 12 saves to deny Avellino and keep his clean sheet in tact. All that was missing from his performance was a pen save however 12 saves is nothing to be ashamed of.
Ike Opara - CB - 67 OVR
Opara was outstanding this weekend for Sporting KC who have struggled to score goals this season. With that being said it is no surprise that Opara's goal was the only of of the game. It was not just Opara's goal that made him stand out however his defensive display was also one to admire with 13 clearances and nine aerial duels won.
Kelyn Rowe - LM - 63 OVR
Rowe scored both of New England's goals in their 2-1 win against SJE. The MLS player of the week is not announced until Tuesday however I am positive that Rowe will be the player to pick up that award and ultimately make EA's TOTW.
Birkir Bjarnason - RM - 68 OVR
Bjarnason scored the second and third Iceland goals in a game which saw Eidar Gudjohnsen come back into the international scene and open the scoring. The game ended 3-0 in Iceland's favour which ended up being a routine win against a Kazakhstan side which has impressed in previous game weeks.
Bobby Grant - CAM - 61 OVR
Grant scored twice from outside the area for Shrewsbury as they managed to see off Portsmouth with a 2-0 win. Multiple other players could be in this spot over Grant but I selected him down to the quality of the goals he scored.
Kyle Lafferty - ST - 71 OVR
Lafferty scored both of Northern Irelands goals as they continue to surprise and impress in their qualifying group. This time out they managed to claim a 2-1 victory at home to Finland which leaves them in 2nd place after five games.
Steven Fletcher - ST - 76 OVR
If the TOTW was more performance based Fletcher would be nowhere near this team as he was actually quite bad. He did score a hat trick but against Gibraltar is that really something to be proud of? In reality with the chances he had he could have and probably should have scored at least twice that amount. The fact is though he scored three and will no doubt be included for that.
